ryan mcrae thomson studied fine art and architecture in his native oregon. designer by nature, he progressed from leading large firm architectural model making efforts to 3D digital renderings, animations and art. with a varied design story that includes industrial, graphic, furniture, trade show booth and retail design, ryan is now focused on telling passionate brand design and environmental design stories with an emphasis on the local. born in klamath falls, ryan graduated from SOU in 1998. in 2003, while at ZGF Architects, he was on the small design team that participated in the Bullseye Glass Betweenness show. he won Best in Show at showpdx 2006 with the Res Table. from 2007 thru 2012, he was an original member of The Rapha Continental. in 2009, ryan was 1 of 50 local designers to participate in Project Chaboo championed by Ken Tomita of Grovemade. the Museum of Contemporary Craft, in 2014, held a showpdx retrospective, featuring the award winning Res Table. 2012-2016 were busy years for ryan at nike, leading visual brand design efforts at multiple DTC stores in North America. in september of 2016, ryan resigned from nike. in january 2017, ryan joined SET Creative in NW Portland, where, as Group Creative Director, he oversaw the creative of brand design, interior design, pop-ups, launches and other super fun moments for leading global brands. ryan left SET in july 2018. after a brief but exciting travel sabbatical, ryan stepped back into design leadership at Henry V as a Creative Director. Then 2020 happened… :)
